I believe sports, all sports; at any level is the spice of life. Most people if asked about sports think of it at a professional level. In that regard, many may think of it as an unnecessary waste of time and only for the elite athletes. The millions that do enjoy sports games, men and women alike, look forward to an afternoon out or a relaxing evening watching their favorite team compete. This is also a great conversation piece almost anywhere, anytime. But sports are also a great way for people to compete themselves or just enjoy exercising. In reality sports is a game. In that regard almost everyone at one time or another engages in sports, whether singularly, as a couple, or on a team.
Why?
I believe God wants us to have fun!He wants us to physically, morally, emotionally, and spiritually interact with each other. It may be as a spectator at our kid’s soccer games, little league, or any high school or college games. Maybe we play golf, go cross country skiing, bowling, or whatever sport or game we like. For those of you who do not care a lot about sports think of this. Grandpa and the neighbor may compete at a friendly game of checkers. The ladies may have an afternoon bridge club, or the kids may compete on an afternoon tossing a Frisbee at the beach. Whatever sport, large or small it is truly a game and a wonderful gift from God. Sports, at any age, teach us many things our wonderful Creator planned way ahead of time: integrity, self-discipline, pride, stability, fair play, integration, and teamwork just to name a few. You just have to admit that after a hectic day or week sports helps us unwind, refocus, and communicate pleasurably at something we like.
Yes I believe that sports are what the “Doctor” ordered. Our own personal prescription for fun! The spice of life.
